today's poem - "Paris"

Paris

In Paris bare facts shine

a moving lantern of fine art

to illuminate vistas

where an artist dreams

in a poet’s exaggeration

Between armies

surrealists impressionists

and cubists lyrically create

deconstruct and muse

on boulevards alleys

and back lanes

over bread cheese

coffee and wine

in a copper sunset light

fueled by artisanal energy

raising a music

as shadows lengthen

Neptune-gray courtyards

settle into nighttime

a yellow moon

suspends itself heroically

as soft-lit cats yawn

in dream dioramas

of Citizens’ peace sleep

City of clattering morning

sleepwalks in the crackled sun

of freed morning light

as past & present collide

on a fashionably downtrodden

welcome-to-another-Paris day

open to the world
